The Walking Dead alum Matt Lintz is celebrating his 19th birthday May 23.

The month of May is a big month for birthdays in The Walking Dead family. On May 23 we celebrate Henry himself, Matt Lintz, as he turns 19 on the same day his on-screen mother, Melissa McBride, celebrates her own birthday.

Taking over the character from his younger brother after the time jump in season 9, Lintz impressed fans as Henry became a crucial part of introducing the Whisperer storyline. His optimistic outlook on life and compassion for Lydia was a bright spark on a show that can feel quite dark at times. Fans of popular character Carol also enjoyed seeing her relationship with her adopted son develop more in season 9, as it was clear that she and her husband Ezekiel cared deeply for Henry.

While he may have only played the role of Henry in season 9 (plus a cameo in season 10), Lintz was involved in one of the most iconic scenes in the history of the show: the pike massacre. Fans were stunned to see the former prince of the Kingdom revealed as Alpha’s final victim in the penultimate episode of the season. This moment will have a lasting impact on both fans and characters alike for seasons to come.

Lintz’s birthday comes a day after he celebrated his graduation from high school, and he shared his excitement from these two big days in the following tweet:

The official Walking Dead account couldn’t help but crack a joke about Henry’s demise on the show in response, warning Matt to “avoid any fairs”:

Although Lintz will be taking a break from acting to attend Auburn University starting in the fall, you can catch him in roles in the Emmy award-winning limited series The Alienist, as well as in movies like Pixels and Free State of Jones.

Having met Lintz at the FanFest New Jersey convention in 2019, I can confidently say that he’s an awesome guy with a bright future ahead of him. The TWDFamily will be sure to support him in his future endeavors – acting or otherwise!
