Quiz is AMC’s newest must-watch show, based on a thrilling true story.

As The Walking Dead fans look for new shows to watch until the season 10 finale and the season 6 premiere of Fear the Walking Dead, consider AMC’s new show Quiz. Quiz is part drama, part mystery. It follows the real-life story of Charles and Diana Ingram, the couple who may or may not have taken the UK’s version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire for a ride in 2001.

The scandal made headlines 20 years ago, but their notoriety faded in the aftermath of September 11. Their story, though, is largely untold even after a highly publicized trial broke the case wide open…or did it?

Quiz is a three-episode series that begins with the incident and the scandal, and then the third episode follows the trial. The media proclaimed the Ingrams guilty beyond a doubt, but perhaps things are not as clear as they once seemed.

The story revolved around Charles Ingram’s appearance on the British version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. His improbable success was linked to a possible accomplice, Tecwen Whittock, who reportedly fed Ingram the correct answers with a code hidden in Whittock’s coughs. Though it seemed like they were all guilty (as far as the press was concerned), there was also just as much reason to believe they might be innocent after all.

There are no answers presented in the show, but there is a wealth of information that wasn’t available during the trial. With shows like Quiz, there is a high entertainment value in being able to watch a show and not have the answer sitting in front of you. With Quiz, even though the trial has come and gone, there is still room for speculation and discussion and that is something that makes for good television.
