5. Mimic (1997)

Norman Reedus made his big-screen Hollywood debut in the science fiction/horror film Mimic in 1997 and seemingly turned some heads. The movie adaption of the short story from  Donald A. Wollheim has a lot going for it.

Mimic boasts a star-studded cast made up of Mira Sorvino, Josh Brolin, F. Murray Abraham, and others while being co-written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, who also worked with Reedus later in his career in Blade II.

The film follows the story of a disease sweeping Manhattan through the spread of cockroaches. The CDC brings in help to slow and stop the spread of Strickler’s disease through genetic engineering but there are some consequences to manipulating biological makeup.

In the movie, Norman Reedus plays the role of Jeremy, one of the young people tasked with cleaning up the city who shares the discovery of something really interesting from the New York sewers. His scene is short, but seeing a young Reedus in this role is quite entertaining.
