Friday Night In with the Morgans will air a very special episode on June 12.

The tragic death of George Floyd has galvanized the world into action, shining a spotlight on the injustice facing the Black community. The June 5 episode of Friday Night In with the Morgans, which had been filmed before protests began, was cancelled and instead AMC announced that a one-hour special episode will air on June 12 with some very special AMC family members.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton Morgan taped a message to fans indicating that in light of the current unrest across the country – and, indeed, all over the world – the previously planned episode of Friday Night In that had been taped in advance was inappropriate and therefore cancelled. This was a mutual decision made with AMC.

They also announced that the June 12 episode of Friday Night In will feature Fear the Walking Dead’s Colman Domingo and friend of The Walking Dead Universe, Yvette Nicole Brown.

Here’s their message:

The Morgans express that the original purpose of Friday Night In was to provide entertainment and levity while everyone was at home under shelter in place orders, but given current events there must be discussion about what we can all do to help support Black Lives Matter.

Colman Domingo, who has already appeared on Friday Night In, is the perfect guest for the June 12 episode. He recently penned a guest column for Deadline in which he discusses how his research about the legendary singer Nat King Cole revealed ties to the anger and frustration that has boiled over in light of George Floyd’s death.

Similarly, Yvette Nicole Brown has been very active on social media, helping to spread the word about the Black Lives Matter movement and how people can help.
