There has been a lot of Negan cosplay from The Walking Dead over the years, but it’s hard to match the style of the Velveteen Dream.

The main event of NXT TakeOver: In Your House put challenger Velveteen Dream up against the current NXT champion Adam Cole in a cinematic Back Lot Brawl with the winner walking away as the new titleholder.

Known for his theatrics, Velveteen Dream made his entrance on the show in style, driving up to the match in a yellow Lamborghini before emerging from the vehicle to make his way to face off against Cole.

Dream is usually known for having a gimmick reminiscent of musician Prince, but for this match “The Vainglorious One” instead got out of the vehicle and looked like a fan making their way int a convention for The Walking Dead fans.

How good was the entrance?

With headlights behind him, Velveteen Dream appeared in Negan apparel, complete with a black leather jacket, red neckwear, and a baseball bat that looked like Lucille firmly resting on his shoulder.

Check out the look as shared on the official WWE Twitter account:

Of course, fans will remember Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan) making his debut in the season 6 finale episode where he emerged from a trailer with headlights behind him in an intimidating fashion while the survivors were on their knees in the woods awaiting their punishment. Dream did a great job channeling the feel from this scene, making it a real treat for fans of professional wrestling and AMC’s zombie survival series.

Seeing The Walking Dead still being used as a pop culture reference, especially from a scene that aired more than four years ago, is a pretty amazing accomplishment for the undead drama. It is a testament to the show’s popularity and appeal that something like this got the green light from the WWE production team.
