1) Don’t trap yourself.

Earlier, I referenced the next thing I thought as the penultimate episode of season ten of The Walking Dead ended, but, didn’t go into detail. The reason why was because I wanted to address it here instead, and mostly, so I could do this…

WHY GO TO A F$%&ING SKYSCRAPER?!? OF ALL THE BUILDINGS YOU COULD CHOOSE, WHY A SKYSCRAPER?!? IT’S A GUARANTEED DEATHTRAP!!! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?

…Sorry. I had to get that out of my system.

Anyway, as over-the-top as my little rant was, my point still stands: The tower was a guaranteed deathtrap, something that provides little to no protection in the event of a siege, which is exactly what the alliance was faced with, and I’ll be very surprised if they don’t lose a lot of people before the battle is over. It’s at least partially because of that choice of hideout that they’re in such desperate need of a miracle in the first place.

If you were to ever find yourself in a zombie apocalypse, you need to learn that in survival, just like in real estate, it’s all about location, location, location. If you put yourself in a terrible location (i.e. A place that’s pretty easy to get stuck and killed in), it’s a critical failure in judgment. When looking for places (Assuming you have time to be choosy), try to find places that give an approaching adversary the high ground, have only one way in, can easily be surrounded, are hard to escape, aren’t near a reliable source of water, etc., and go away from them.

Any one of those (And, I’m sure the tower is at least the last four of those things I mentioned) could mean that, should you get into a battle with zombies or hostiles (Never mind an army of the former being used by the latter), your enemies can easily overwhelm and destroy you.

What you need is a place that, even in a worst-case scenario (Like the one the alliance finds itself in The Walking Dead) is one you can easily defend and, if need be, easily escape.

You won’t need to rely so much on miracles to survive a battle if you don’t box yourself into a deathtrap before the battle even begins.
