We Are More Than We Were

No one has changed who they were on the show more than Carol and Daryl. The amount of growth they have gone through is inspiring to many who have experienced similar traumas in their life.

It wasn’t easy for them just as it’s not easy in real life but it can be done. That doesn’t mean parts of the past won’t come back to haunt you. Carol, in this season’s stellar episode “Look at the Flowers”,  showed this, yet she faced that past and continues to fight it.

Think about how much better the world in general would be if we could let go of the hate, anger and racism.

Think of how much better our lives would be if we learned to  let go of our past traumas and worked together to build that better world.

Family Is More Than Blood

Family… Is there anything more confusing, complex, frustrating and rewarding?

As we have seen during the 10 seasons of the show, family is more than a blood bond. Its a bond of friendship, companionship and love. For many of us, the bonds we make with others are stronger and healthier than those of blood.

Special friends that know you better than your biological family, mentors that have encouraged and supported you more than anyone ever had. People in your life that will see beyond who you were, that take the time to know who you are at your core. Those are the people that become your family and we are stronger for having them in our lives.

These are just a few examples of lessons learned or reaffirmed after 10 seasons of The Walking Dead.  What lessons have you learned?
