The Walking Dead Onslaught VR game is in its final stage of production.

The TWD Family has been eagerly awaiting news about The Walking Dead Onslaught, the official VR game of The Walking Dead Universe. AMC and Survios Inc. revealed during today’s UploadVR Showcase that the game is heading into its final stage of production, and star Norman Reedus provided a video message for fans with an update.

The Walking Dead Universe is made up of comics, television shows, video games and (at some point in the future) movies. Onslaught will be the latest edition to the growing universe, and the idea of being in the middle of the action is tantalizing. There have been games that use a smartphone’s camera to put players “in” the game, but Onslaught promises to take players to a whole new world where players are in the middle of the action thanks to the latest advances in VR technology.

Tuesday’s announcement from Survios Inc.  included the revelation that actual gameplay footage will be available this summer now that the game is in the final stage of production.

In the video, Reedus showed off the studio that Survios Inc. created in his basement (presumably due to the pandemic) that allowed him to complete work on the project. Reedus promises that he was screaming his head off, leading us to wonder what he was happening to Daryl in the game.

In addition to Reedus, Melissa McBride and Josh McDermitt also provide their voices for the game. This is intriguing, as it means that Daryl, Carol and Eugene are in the game together. What does that mean for the story? We can only wonder.
