The Walking Dead: Michael Rooker to appear at virtual Galaxy Con
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead’s Michael Rooker joins Galaxy Con on June 27.
Due to the postponements of many cons and events, organizers are getting very creative by bringing us our favorite actors but in a virtual setting. Galaxy Con has been having a lot of fun themed events, including some of our Walking Dead favorites. Up next is Michael Rooker, who played Merle Dixon, the other half of the Dixon Brothers. This live event will happen on June 27.
The event will have a live Q and A with Rooker at 2 pm ET, which is free for all to view.
At 3 pm ET, for a fee, you can get a 2-minute one-on-one video chat, a video shout-out, or an autograph from Merle himself. You do need to register for the Q and A and purchase add-ons ahead of time.
Rooker’s character on The Walking Dead was killed off in season 3. He was the least favorite of the two Dixon brothers, with Daryl being the favorite. Merle started the series as a rough and tough character that many in the original Atlanta group had no love for. He was absent for quite a while and then showed up again as a heavy hitter for The Governer. In the end, he did try to redeem himself.
Many fans have said they wished Merle would have been around to see how he would handle Negan. It would be an exciting altercation between the two of them. They would either fight it out to the death, or Merle would have liked Negan’s style and joined up with the Saviors. Although I don’t think he would have looked on too kindly at the treatment of his baby brother.
Although we haven’t seen Rooker’s character in The Walking Dead in many years, he is still a fan favorite, and lines are formed to meet him at the cons he attends.
He has received outstanding recognition from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies where he played Yondu. He has been very busy since we last saw him on The Walking Dead. He has starred in Fantasy Island, Brightburn, and True Detective. He also has a lot of projects in the works. Monster Problems, F9, Suicide Squad, and The President Is Missing, to name a few.
Be sure to go to Galaxy Con’s website to register for the Q and A and purchase any add-ons to make some cool memories with Michael Rooker on June 27.
