Happy birthday to The Walking Dead alum Alanna Masterson
Alanna Masterson’s Tara brought smiles and laughs to The Walking Dead
Tara always managed to bring a smile to the zombie apocalypse, using her trademark wit and humor to deflect negativity even in the worst of circumstances. Alanna Masterson may be gone from The Walking Dead but she’s certainly not forgotten.
When Tara arrived on The Walking Dead in season 4’s “Live Bait.” At the time, she had no idea that her family’s new savior was actually a homicidal maniac. The Governor seemed to enjoy his time with Tara’s family, but eventually his desire for revenge led him to throw away the life he’d found. His decision led to a chain reaction that saw Tara’s sister and niece killed, and she soon realized that she wanted to be on the good side.
Over time, Tara went from being a background character to a leader. By season 9, it was Tara who was keeping the Hilltop running smoothly after Maggie’s departure and Jesus’ desire to remain out of the spotlight. It was her leadership that kept things moving after Jesus was killed by the mysterious new villains, and in her final moments she fought hard to stay alive in the barn as Alpha and her followers sought to send a frightening message to the others.
Masterson was always a fun guest on Talking Dead with her enthusiasm and humor, and she was a delight at fan conventions. Fans were always treated to jokes and laughter whenever Masterson was around. Hopefully she will make a return to conventions in the future, even if she appears at a virtual convention like some of her former costars have been doing over the past few months.
Fun fact: Masterson shares a birthday with fellow TWD alum Chandler Riggs, who turned 21 this year.
Happy birthday, Alanna Masterson, from all of us at Undead Walking!
