Max Brooks fans will want to check out the other zombie panel at Comic-Con at Home

Members of the TWD Family have most certainly made comparisons between zombie outbreaks and what’s happening around the world during the pandemic. Bestselling author Max Brooks will be on hand for a panel at Comic-Con at Home that examines just that.

Brooks, who is known for The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z, is a leading expert on zombie survival and he will be on a panel called Zombies and Coronavirus: Planning for the Next Big Outbreak.

Here’s the panel description from the Comic-Con at Home website:

"Ever wonder how we can translate what we’ve learned from our recent pandemic challenges into dealing with the next unknown, even the zombie apocalypse? Join author Max Brooks (World War Z, The Zombie Survival Guide, Devolution), biodefense experts Dr. Greg Koblentz (George Mason University), Dr. Gigi Gronvall (Johns Hopkins University), Dr. Shanna Ratnesar-Shumate (University of Nebraska Medical Center) and Dr. Jarod Hanson (USAMRIID and University of Maryland Medical Center) and moderator Justin Hurt (Comic-Con Today assistant editor) for an engaging and entertaining discussion of how we could prepare for what comes next in the realm of infectious disease."

One thing that many fans of The Walking Dead have mentioned over the past few weeks and months is how much the show has helped them prepare for the pandemic. In fact, there was even a study that suggests horror fans and fans of apocalyptic programming have been better suited to cope with novel coronavirus than people who don’t enjoy those genres.

The panel will take place at 12pm PT on Friday, July 24, which happens to be the same time that the Fear the Walking Dead panel takes place. Thankfully, the virtual convention setting will allow you to watch one and then go back and watch the other later.

While the tone of this panel is certainly meant to be lighthearted and fun, there is a great deal of benefit to it as well. It helps to be prepared, whether it’s packing an emergency survival kit in your trunk during a snowstorm or storing water when living in an earthquake zone. The same survival skills you would employ in a zombie apocalypse translate to outbreaks and pandemics, too, and this panel will provide some insight into how to be prepared.
