Happy birthday to Fear TWD star Daryl ‘Chill’ Mitchell
Daryl ‘Chill’ Mitchell brings smiles to the apocalypse on Fear TWD
It’s hard to find the bright side of things in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, but Daryl “Chill” Mitchell brings smiles and laughs to Fear the Walking Dead, and the Fear TWD star is celebrating a birthday on July 16.
Mitchell also stars in NCIS: New Orleans, but he might be best known for his role as former child actor Tommy Webber in the 1999 classic Galaxy Quest. Tommy Webber played Laredo, the brilliant child prodigy who piloted the ship in the fictional television show, but when he and his friends end up on a real-life quest to save an alien species he has to fake it until he makes it.
When Mitchell’s Wendell showed up with his sister Sarah (Mo Collins) in season 4, the siblings brought a much-needed dose of humor to the apocalypse. Together they had been through just as many rough times as anyone else, but they managed to adapt by embracing a positive perspective through it all. They also drink a lot of beer, which helps.
Wendell is an incredibly important character in The Walking Dead Universe because he demonstrates that people in wheelchairs can kick just as much zombie butt as anyone else. His tricked out wheelchair is a zombie fighting machine, and when his sister or his friends are in danger he won’t let anyone get in his way.
Fans will learn Wendell’s fate in season 6. In the Fear TWD season 5 finale, Wendell was separated from his sister by Virginia’s people. Though Sarah vowed to find a way to get back to her brother, there’s no telling where the siblings will end up. Knowing that Virginia’s philosophy revolves around being useful, Wendell’s fate is uncertain.
Happy birthday wishes go out to Daryl “Chill” Mitchell from all of us at Undead Walking, and we can’t wait to see you in Fear TWD season 6!
