The Walking Dead is expanding its tenth season following the airing of AMC and fans should be excited to get more great zombie content soon.
Fans hungry for the season 10 finale of The Walking Dead finally got an air date for episode 1016 during the panel featured at Comic-Con@Home but some new information has knocked fans for a real loop.
Showrunner Angela Kang made the announcement at the event that season 10 episode 16 will not be the season finale for the popular AMC drama. In fact, she revealed that six more episodes will be in the current season but airing in 2021, giving an extended run of 22 episodes.
Here is the statement from the press release:
“Showrunner Angela Kang announced an extended season 10 with six extra episodes to follow the finale and air in early 2021. Additionally, Kang confirmed that The Walking Dead Season 11 will not be able to air in its regular October timeslot, due to COVID-19.”
The extended run for season 10 of The Walking Dead is exciting and will allow the AMC team to work on creating the show’s eleventh season, which has no real chance of making the traditional October release fans have gotten used to since the show’s start in 2010.
Of course, there will be more zombie content to help fill the void for fans. Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond will be there for viewers to sink their teeth into while they wait for Daryl, Carol, Negan, and the rest of our favorite characters from the flagship zombie drama to return.
There is no way to know when season 11 of The Walking Dead will air. However, knowing AMC has plans to give fans content before season 11 in the form of six more episodes adding on to the current season should help those hungering for more zombie drama.
