1) Governments suck.

Don’t get me wrong, anarchy is even worse, but, in a zombie apocalypse, governments will suck.

I’ll be fair, in the wake of coronavirus, a lot of governments took steps to mitigate it’s spread, try to quell panic, you know, things they ought to do under such circumstances.

However, we also saw governments try to cover up the outbreak, fail to contain it (Which is partly why they sought to cover it up), and, in a few cases, use the situation to wield their power rather…unscrupulously, even for politicians.

My point is: While the governments of the world may not be utterly terrible, the fact is, they will almost certainly not be up to the task of dealing with a zombie apocalypse. I say that first and foremost, because I think it will take a relatively long time before they recognize that what they’re dealing with even is a zombie apocalypse. With the outbreak likely taking a while before the dead start amassing large numbers, they will likely assume even the first few videos they see of zombies attacking are little more than evidence of people under the influence of some kind of drug.

Even when they do start to congregate, it is only logical that governments will simply assume the zombies are rioters, and not deal with them they way they ought to, only ensuring that those sent to deal with them risk exposure to the virus, and creating more zombies.

Worse still, you can almost certainly bet that the same actors doing the more nefarious things we’ve seen over the last few months would probably do much the same in a zombie outbreak, because, they would likely not realize what it is they’re dealing with, and behave no differently, with disastrous results.

Don’t expect governments to save you, when they probably won’t even be able to save themselves.
