7) It’s all conditional.

Here’s a thing I’ve learned about “society”: Whether or not someone considers you a part of it is largely conditional.

What do I mean by that? I mean that, depending on who you are (As opposed to what you do), many people will treat you like utter garbage, and, in some cases, like vermin.

Well, what does this mean in relation to a zombie apocalypse?” You might be asking. What it means is that, assuming that the zombie outbreak doesn’t hit everywhere at once, there will be people out there who, depending on where you are when the outbreak hits, or sometimes simply who you are, will not give even the slightest bit of a rat’s ass about the fact you’re in a place where walking corpses are tearing people limb from limb!

I don’t simply mean this in an “out of sight, out of mind” sort of not caring, but rather, the sort of not caring where they’ll hear that your city or town or neighborhood is under siege by (As they’ll probably see them) cannibals, and simply reply “Good”.

Of course this will all change once not change at all once everything collapses, and the apocalypse begins in earnest. People who adhere to this mentality will probably not lose it once the zombies take over, and likely use it as an excuse to rob you, or worse. If they don’t, it means they didn’t believe in the mentality that much, which is good, you might actually be able to befriend them, so, don’t say I am totally devoid of positivity this week.

The reason I mention this, though, is that those who do believe treating people humanely is dependent on something arbitrary, rather than your actions, are likely to be hostiles, and you should be extremely wary of such people should you be unfortunate enough to meet them.

As much as we might wish we were, in a zombie apocalypse, we won’t all be in it together. Even without zombies, there are times where I question if we ever were.
