The Walking Dead: World Beyond will feature a dangerous new villain

Every show needs a villain, and in the zombie apocalypse the villains aren’t the undead so much as they’re other people who have turned ruthless and cruel in their quests to protect themselves. Such might be the case with The Walking Dead: World Beyond, in which Julia Ormond’s Elizabeth has questionable motives.

The Walking Dead fans have seen helicopters flying around the TWD Universe for a while now. A helicopter swooped in and saved Rick Grimes, and Althea had an interaction with a mysterious stranger in a helicopter on Fear the Walking Dead.

But who are these mysterious people who have the ability to fly around in military helicopters so late in the apocalypse? Where are they from, and what do they want?

During our recent interview with Skybound’s Johnny O’Dell on the Undead Walking Podcast, O’Dell said that Ormond’s character is a major villain who will rival the likes of Negan and the Governor. You can see his comments in the clip below:

World Beyond is an opportunity to learn more about these mysterious people. Based on the previews alone, the helicopter people with the three circles on their uniforms seem to be organized and well-equipped. They’re part of the community, so surely they’re not the villains, right?

Not so fast.

Villains have come and gone on The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. O’Dell’s comparison to Negan and the Governor is interesting because those two villains share a few similarities but they are also polar opposites. Negan seems to have a code while the Governor is ruled by his temper. Where does that put Elizabeth?

Given the resources she has at her disposal in the trailer, Elizabeth is already more dangerous than any villain we’ve seen because she has so much firepower in her arsenal. While Alpha has walkers, Elizabeth has a military. The question, of course, is what the military does in the middle of the zombie apocalypse.
