The Pale Riders are Fear The Walking Dead’s new foes. What if Chris is among them?

If you’ve seen the latest trailers for season six of Fear The Walking Dead, then, you saw what is clearly going to be the newest hostiles (for at least part of the season): The Pale Riders.

You see them terrorizing Sherry, and (presumably) harassing Althea as she drives the SWAT truck across the plains. Whether they’re against Morgan’s group specifically, the Pioneers, or anyone that isn’t one of them, is unclear at this time, but, what is clear is that they are not friendly.

Because of this, my mind has been swirling, wondering what stories lie behind the horsemen with the creepy ghost-faced masks. Who are they? Why are they attacking people? Do they have a grudge with the Pioneers?

Maybe it’s the opposite of how things seem to be presented, and maybe the reason so many people seem to willingly join the Pioneers is because, brutal though they might be, they stand as a bulwark against the Pale Riders, who, if what we’ve seen is any indication, terrorize anyone they seem to come across? Who knows?

Whatever the case may be, one question has been popping up over and over in my brain and, crazy though it is, I can’t help but be intrigued by it: What if CHRIS was one of the Pale Riders?

“…Wait…Chris? ARE YOU SERIOUS? That’s ridiculous!I can hear you saying, and, to that, I have but one response: Is it?

A while back, I posited a “What If” scenario originally given to me by my brother, specifically, asking what if Chris didn’t die in season two.

The central piece of this idea came from my brother suggesting to me that what we saw as Chris’s death wasn’t his actual death, but simply, Travis’s imagining of Chris’s death based on the events Brandon and Derek described to him.

I could go into further detail, but, it’s easier if you just click the link above to my other article and read that once you finish this one. Suffice it to say, because of how different Chris’s “death” scene looks compared to everything else in the show, it gives us a little wiggle room in regards to the veracity of that “death” as it was told to us, which is important if we’re, you know, speculating about him being one of the Pale Riders.

Okay, now that that is out of the way, we can get started…
