The former villain could make an impact in The Walking Dead season 10 finale

Negan is a polarizing character. Once a villain to be feared, he has shown a softer side since earning his freedom in season 10 but there is no question that Negan is watching out for Negan. He has a chance to make some big moves in The Walking Dead season 10 finale, and these three things could help to make it out of the finale in one piece while also setting the stage for what’s to come.

Fans agree that Jeffrey Dean Morgan does an amazing job bringing the often reviled villain to life on The Walking Dead but the fandom is divided on what his role should be. With Maggie’s return, should Negan seek to help out or should he stay in the background? Can he ever find redemption? Perhaps the bigger question is, does he want to find redemption?

Negan has a chance to make some big moves in the season finale. Here are three things he can do to make an impact.

Protect the Kids

No matter what you think of Negan as a character, there is no question that he is someone who will protect children with his life. (Sure, he threatened to kill Carl but he also knew Carl was Rick’s Achilles heel, and Negan liked Carl way too much to kill him)

The children are all hiding in the hospital and Beta’s herd is bearing down on the building. With nowhere to go, they will have to fight. Negan could put up a fight to save them, and this would help him to be accepted…if he’s looking for acceptance.

Fight With Carol

We know that Negan was helping Carol in return for his freedom. He indicated that he was also looking for absolution, but that never really came.

In the absence of being absolved for his crimes, he might as well help in the fight against the Whisperers and fighting with Carol would be fun to see. Unlike Daryl, who can barely tolerate the former villain, Carol respects anyone who can get the job done. Questionable motives mean nothing when you have to get the job done and that’s a philosophy that Negan and Carol share.

Kill Beta

While the general consensus is that Daryl should be the one to kill Beta, there’s a good argument to be made that Negan should have his chance at the Big Man given that things were always tense between them. Not only that, but Negan cares a lot about Lydia and killing Beta, after killing Alpha, might help her to heal.

Negan hasn’t had a chance to go “full-Negan” in a while, so seeing him unleash against the new leader of the Whisperers would be something to see.
