Lydia could have some big moments in The Walking Dead season 10 finale

I don’t know about y’all, but it feels like its been YEARS since The Walking Dead season 10 episode 15 aired.  With two and a half months to go, October 4th  seems a long way off. Re-watching season 10 got me thinking about  Lydia.

When we last saw Lydia she was dealing with her conflicted emotions about her mothers death and the role Negan played in it. She’s a young woman that is struggling to find her place and her identity within the community. Few can imagine the horrors she has witnessed and survived but it’s her survivor nature and struggles that resonate with fans.  After everything she has been through, here are the three things I’d like to see Lydia do in the finale.

Work With Her New Family To Defeat Beta’s Horde

No one and I do mean NO ONE knows more about how the whisperers work than Lydia.  Any plan to beat Beta and his horde needs to have Lydia’s input and assistance. She knows how to move with the walkers and how to direct them. She also knows Beta. Could she be the finale piece to complete his mental break? Negan had Alpha’s mask, how would Beta react seeing Lydia wearing it?

I want to see Lydia use the skills she learned from her mother to fight with Negan, Daryl and especially Carol. To me, there is something poetic in the thought that the daughter of the  killer of Carol’s son would stand shoulder to shoulder with Carol to defeat the system Alpha put into place. I have come to accept they are going to keep working to redeem Negan and I can see working with Lydia as the next logical step. The show has  spent the time to develop a bond between the two of them which leads me to expect to see more of that bond in the finale.

Find Acceptance In The Community

The teen years are tough on everyone, but for someone going through their teen years in the middle of the zombie apocalypse with a psycho lady as her mom its even tougher.

I really want the communities to embrace Lydia as one of their own but more than that, I want Lydia to find some peace within herself. She’s not to blame for her mother’s actions and she needs to hear that till she believes it.

As impressive as her survival skills are, her personal skills need a helping hand. We know she lacks some basic skills such as reading and was teased about it, but its  seems she also lacks some basic social skills especially with those her own age. I’d like to see her develop friendships with others in her age group, someone like Kelly who knows what its like to be different and Lydia would make for an interesting and mutually beneficial  friendship.

Have Some Fun

Considering what is coming it seems strange that I would hope for Lydia to have a moment of fun. (Think the snowball fight at the end of season 9)

Having to live with the constant danger and worry is damaging to a persons mental and emotional well being.  Lydia is someone that needs that moment of peace  and a chance to just be a kid. Doing something fun, whether its joking with Daryl, getting the best of Negan or having a playful moment with Dog can go a long way to push aside stress and worries and allow her a chance to feel the joy  that moment can give her.

Like many of you, I am eagerly awaiting The Walking Dead season 10 finale and looking forward to seeing my favorite characters back on my screen. For now I’m having to make due with head canons, wishes and speculation. Here’s hoping I get to see Lydia  kick butt, take name, make friends and have a moment of fun.

What would you like to see for Lydia in the finale? Let me know.
