1) SURPRISE! …There’s zombies.

Well, let’s start this off with the most obvious: People, generally, aren’t expecting to wake up one morning and discover that dead bodies are now walking around eating the living. It’s not something we’re really used to, so, to say it would be a surprise is…something of an understatement.

There’s so much I could go into about the outright ambush a zombie outbreak would be, but, I feel like it could take too long to cover it all, so, I’ll try to just stick to the most important points and what you can do to help yourself.

Firstly, because of the fact that fighting zombies can be very dangerous, you should always have something on you that you can use to defend yourself. You don’t want to wind up having to fight one zombie (Never mind more than one) with just your bare hands, because there’s too much of a chance of getting an even worse surprise.

If I’m being real, the best thing you can do is get a license to carry a gun, that way, if you do have to fight a zombie, you can (Legally) do it from as far away as possible.

Secondly…there’ll be zombies. Now, I know that’s obvious, but, one of the key things to zombies is that they’re dead, and, at least initially…you’re not going to see it coming. Everything we know tells us that a zombie should be impossible, yet, upon running into one, you’ll discover that they’re quite real, and you will probably be in shock seeing something that should not exist, and quickly hit with the terrible realization that much of what you do to it has no effect (Surprise!). You need to be ready to accept things you previously thought impossible if you want to survive past your first encounter with a zombie.

And, thirdly, a zombie apocalypse could happen at any time, even a really disadvantageous one. Sure, it might be one thing running into one in your home city, where you have a pretty good idea of where to go to get away from things, but…what if you aren’t?

Yeah, I know travel isn’t what it was a few months ago, but, people do still travel, and, often times, that takes them to places that they don’t necessarily know that well. This makes for a great travel experience, but, if you run into zombies while you’re there, it could suddenly mean you’re trapped in a place you don’t know very well, trying to get away from dead people attempting to eat you, and not knowing where to go to do that. The best thing you can do for yourself is memorize maps of every place you might think to go, especially the ways out, so that, no matter where you are, you aren’t lost.
