What do we want to see from King Ezekiel in The Walking Dead episode 1016?

Each day brings us closer to the season ten finale of The Walking Dead, which will air on October 4 on AMC. We find our characters at the end of one war only to be in the beginnings of the second phase of that war with the Whisperers, now with Beta as the leader.

Our dear King Ezekiel not only has to fight in that war but has another battle ahead of him. The King has developed thyroid cancer and feels it is a death sentence in this world.

Ezekiel has always been a force since his introduction in season seven. Below are three things we want to see from The King in the season finale of season ten.

Endurance

With his diagnosis, he is probably experiencing fatigue from his thyroid cancer. The hope is that he can find the endurance to step up in whatever capacity is needed to defeat the next chapter of the Whisperer war.

We know that a horde is heading towards the communities, and we also know that King Ezekiel, Yumiko, Eugene, and Princess are heading towards contact with Stephanie. What they will find when they arrive is anyone’s guess. Friend or foe? We will see. But, we do know they need to be ready for anything.

Motivation

Having a diagnosis of cancer in an apocalypse would set back the most resilient of people. Most likely, it has put Ezekiel into a state of depression. That and the loss of his romantic relationship with Carol would bring anyone down.

Hopefully, he can find the motivation to press on and not give up the physical or mental fight that is before him. Knowing his giving nature, it would be like him to give himself up for someone else since he probably feels he isn’t long for this world.

Survival

The number one thing we can hope for Ezekiel in the finale is his survival. It is never easy to lose a character that has become so dear to the fans. With Ezekiels’s diagnosis, fans’ hearts have gone out to the character.

King Ezekiel is a leader that people will follow. These are the people needed in this world, and his survival is vital for whatever comes next.

And, it may be wishful thinking on this writer’s part, but with his recent Instagram post, does this mean the King is ready to return to the Kingdom for season eleven? Or perhaps some of the six bonus episodes we have been promised? We can hope!

King Ezekiel and company will return to AMC on October 4 for the season ten finale.
