1. Dale Horvath

  • Debut: Episode 101
  • Death: Episode 211
  • Total run: 19 episodes
  • Appeared in: 19 episodes

One of the more polarizing characters in The Walking Dead universe, Dale Horvath wasn’t afraid to be vocal and stand his ground. A handy individual who found the value of life, he stood up to many who were more physically intimidating than him, including Shane and Rick.

Fans could go as far as to call him the moral compass of the group, which could have been a reason he wasn’t long for life in the zombie apocalypse. His fight to save Randall’s life was a key point in his time on the show and got on the nerves of some viewers who didn’t agree with his view.

There were many times where Dale would have come in handy following his death. Whether it would be making repairs on vehicles or attempting to facilitate a debate between two groups who can’t see eye to eye, he would have been front and center.

Although he was only alive for 19 total episodes, his impact was felt in nearly all of them. His unique style and appearance made him an easily identifiable survivor and one many fans often look back on as being a great survivor even if they didn’t like him initially.
