This is a hard one to swallow for many fans of The Walking Dead. Siddiq was a major player in the storyline that led to the exit of Carl Grimes from the AMC series, so there was hope he would stick around a long time to honor his legacy.

Not only that, but fans of the comic book series know Siddiq is a rather major player in that storyline and the hope was that it would translate well to the small screen. Sadly, Avi Nash’s character on the show never got to have the opportunity to live out those stories.

Siddiq ended up being a victim of the Whisperers after a spy named Dante worked his way into the community and was about to be discovered as a traitor but chose to kill Siddiq through strangulation to preserve his secret instead.

Leaving behind his daughter Socorro and former lover Rosita as well as patients who needed his medical expertise, Siddiq could have been a valuable part of the community for many seasons to come.

He could have continued his relationship with his daughter, continued to train more medical experts, and bring a unique approach to the meaning of the undead. Instead, the show feels a bit empty without him there.
