Fear TWD season 6: 3 things we want to see from Alicia Clark
It’s time for Alicia Clark to make some big moves in Fear TWD season 6
There are certain characters across The Walking Dead Universe who have experienced more suffering than others. They have lost everyone and everything, but somehow they find the motivation they need to keep going. In Fear the Walking Dead, no one has suffered as much as Alicia Clark and in Fear TWD season 6 it’s time for her to cast off the past.
Alycia Debnam-Carey once told me in an interview that whenever things get really dark for Alicia on the show, she compensates by wearing very “girly” things and there were moments in the past few seasons where she was on Instagram quite a bit. While some fans were frustrated by Alicia’s tree painting in season 5, it wasn’t that much different than what happened to Morgan after losing his son. (For Morgan, it was Eastman who helped him return to the world and for Alicia, it’s Strand and Morgan)
The intense emotions that came from losing her mother and brother (along with her stepfather and stepbrother, her quasi-boyfriend Jake and many friends along the way) led her to a complete breakdown. She compensated with a killing rage (remember her bloody hands while fighting walkers with a plane propeller?) and ended by trying to make sense of everything, and part of that was painting trees because it was a centering activity that she could control.
But that’s all over now. Now she has been torn from her friends and Alicia won’t stand for it. In Fear TWD season 6, it’s time for Alicia to start kicking butt and taking names. (Again)
Channeling Her Rage
It’s ok to be angry and it’s ok to be upset. Alicia has been through a lot, and the last thing she needs is to be held captive by Virginia and her people. Though it looks like she ended up with Strand at the end of season 5, she has been separated from her friends and that isn’t going to work for her.
Alicia has been able to channel her rage before. We saw it after the plane crash and we’ve seen it in earlier seasons. Alicia is a formidable fighter and she can take on the world when she focuses her anger and works toward a solution.
Focus on Family
Alicia and Strand are very close because they have been together the longest, and there’s no question that Alicia wants to be reunited with the group. They have become family, after all.
But one of the challenges with being in a state of grief is that there is a tendency to push people away and it would be easy for Alicia to do just that, when really this is the time she needs to lean on the people in her life as much as possible. They may not be together right now, but keeping them at the forefront of her thoughts should be a guiding principle.
Honor Madison
One of the most endearing things about Alicia is her desire to do right by Madison. She has been carrying on Madison’s legacy since losing her mother at the ballpark, and this is something that should continue.
Alicia doesn’t want to be under Virginia’s control and she wants to reunite with her friends, but she also wants to help people in need. She knows Virginia has some questionable policies, and she might be able to use that to her advantage.
If she can convince the people in Virginia’s community to listen to her, they might end up following Alicia instead of Virginia and that would be a quintessential Madison move.
