The TWDUniverse Launch Party on Twitch a big success

The TWDUniverse Channel on Twitch launched to great fanfare on Sunday

The Walking Dead Universe got a little bigger as AMC’s newest venture, the TWDUniverse Channel on Twitch, kicked off on September 20 with a Launch Party and watch party that boasted over 28,000 viewers. Though it needs a few tweaks, the launch was a big success and it will provide a fun destination for the TWD Family to congregate on Sundays.

AMC’s first of its kind partnership with Twitch allows for fans to come together on the Twitch platform to watch original content, engage in chats and watch episodes together. The three hosts, Ronetta Renay, Clarke Wolfe and Dylan Gabriel Guerra are on hand to help guide the conversation live as fans interact.

The Launch Party was met with over 28,000 fans who tuned in to see exclusive extended clips of The Walking Dead season 10 premiere table read, and TWD star Cooper Andrews stopped by to say hello. The Launch Party was followed by a watch party for the season 10 premiere. Though numbers dwindled after the initial launch party, overall it seemed like people were having fun and AMC picked up quite a few subscribers along the way.

Now that it has launched, the TWDUniverse Channel will feature regular watch parties to catch up on season 10 episodes ahead of the October 4 finale, along with content built around the series premiere of World Beyond.

Several members of the TWD Family showed up on Twitch for the event, and their feedback was largely positive. One of the big questions floating around revolved around the hosts and whether or not they were dedicated TWD fans. Admittedly, at times it seemed like some of the hosts had only watched season 10 and knew all of the major season 10 trends and talking points. It’s early enough to hope that they will be more comfortable as the days and weeks go by.
