TWD Universe shows to premiere on Thursdays with AMC+
New subscription bundle AMC+ will feature TWD Universe shows airing Thursdays
AMC Networks is launching a brand new subscription bundle for customers who were previously unable to subscribe to AMC Premiere. The new service, AMC+, includes access to programming across all of the networks under the AMC Networks banner and as an added bonus fans can watch their favorite shows from the TWD Universe on Thursdays instead of waiting until Sunday.
According to AMC’s press release, The Walking Dead season 10 finale and the premiere of World Beyond will be available on AMC+ on Thursday, October 1. Without AMC+ (or AMC Premiere), the shows will be available on Sundays at 9pm and 10pm ET respectively.
The press release also mentions new shows like Soulmates, which will debut on AMC+ on October 1 and AMC on October 5. AMC+ will also feature the first three episodes of Gangs of London season 1, available on October 1, and then the series will debut on AMC in early 2021.
Oddly enough, Fear the Walking Dead is not mentioned in the press release but ads for both AMC Premiere and AMC+ indicate that shows are released early, so as of this writing we don’t know if Fear TWD will be available in advance of its scheduled October 11 premiere on AMC.
AMC+ fills the void for fans who were not able to access AMC Premiere. It’s available for Comcast Xfinity, Sling TV and DISH subscribers and will provide access to content from AMC Networks’ family of networks including Shudder, IFC Films Unlimited and Sundance Now.
It’s a little confusing to distinguish the difference between AMC Premiere and AMC+ other than to say that AMC Premiere’s biggest shortcoming was that it in’t available to viewers in some areas, and it required a cable subscription to AMC.
AMC+ offers more content but it’s limited to the three providers listed above, so if you weren’t able to get AMC Premiere then you might be able to access AMC+ now.
The most important takeaway is that you don’t need to have AMC+ if you already have AMC Premiere. If you’re planning to change television providers, you might be able to keep your early access through one of the two options.
Fans who want to watch new TWD Universe shows early should consider whether AMC+ (or AMC Premiere) makes sense. AMC+ doesn’t seem to be unique but it does seem to offer a bit more than Premiere and it’s the newest service from AMC Networks.
