Andrew Lincoln was set to star in Greg Nicotero’s Creepshow season two

Many shows and films have had significant postponements or cancelations during the current pandemic. One project that was nixed that will cause more sadness for Walking Dead fans. Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes in that series, was slated to star in the second season of The Walking Dead’s producer, director and fx extraordinaire, Greg Nicotero’s Creepshow. Nicotero has cast a few other Walking Dead cast members in the first season of Creepshow, including Josh McDermitt, Tobin Bell, and Cailey Fleming.

While conducting interviews for his newest project Penguin Bloom, Lincoln said he had a great part in the upcoming second season of Creepshow, a Shudder production inspired by the 80s films. Lincoln was shocked that the interviewer for Collider was privy to this information.

How did he acquire it? From Nicotero himself. Steve Weintraub of Collider showed Lincoln the text message that confirmed the information. You can view the clip on the Collider page.

Lincoln smiled while telling Weintraub the following:

"That’s true. It’s really, really true. He did have a great one. And I was thinking about getting on the plane as well, ’cause he’s shooting in Atlanta."

As sad as it is that fans won’t get to see Lincoln in the second season of Creepshow, there are still the promised Walking Dead movies that Lincoln is set to reprise his role as Rick Grimes. Lincoln recalled a very cool situation where a fan recognized Lincoln while he was out surfing with his son in Cornwall, and the fan just commented, “Come back, Rick.” He stated he was very touched, and he turned around and said, “We’re working on it.” That was all that he could say about any return of Rick Grimes at this time.
