Fear TWD season 6: Salazar returns to his roots in a new photo

A new Fear TWD season 6 photo reveals that Daniel Salazar is cutting hair again

When fans first met Daniel Salazar in Fear the Walking Dead season 1 he was a barber in Downtown Los Angeles who was trying to keep his family safe when things went sideways. However, by the end of season 1 it was clear that Salazar had a secret past and it’s his past that will be incredibly useful in Fear TWD season 6.

Not much is known about Salazar’s fate at the end of season 5, but we do know this much: He was very unhappy with Victor Strand’s decision to barter the SWAT van starter for preferential treatment with Virginia, he did not want to be separated from Charlie and he was not happy that some guy took Skidmark away.

You don’t come between a man and his ginger cat.

A photo from season 6 reveals Salazar is cutting Virginia’s hair. There’s nothing more perfect than Salazar playing the role of the unassuming barber in these circumstances.

Salazar is the ultimate chameleon and while he’s cutting hair he’s listening. Watching. Learning.

Salazar’s time in the military in El Salvador taught him all kinds of things. He knows how to get information out of people by torturing them, and he knows how to stay in the background until he knows what he’s up against.

While Alicia and Strand know about Salazar’s colorful history, Virginia does not. She has no idea what he’s capable of, and given that people he cares about are potentially in danger she doesn’t know what lengths he’s willing to go to in order to help them. He already lost his wife and daughter, so there’s no way he’s going to sit idly by and wait for Virginia to reveal her hand. He’s going to learn as much as he can before he makes a move.

There’s something really great about this photo. If you didn’t know about his history, it wouldn’t seem noteworthy. However, in season 1 Ofelia didn’t know about her father’s history because he was trying to start over. Salazar might not want to relive those days but he’s not above using the tools he learned to help his friends.

Fear TWD season 6 premieres Sunday, October 11 at 9pm on AMC.
