Fear TWD season 6: Don’t call Virginia a villain (yet, anyway)
The Fear TWD season 6 villain might not be a villain at all, but can she be trusted?
October 11 marks the Fear TWD season 6 premiere and fans have been buzzing about the early reviews of the new season which hint at a much darker tone than ever before. During the recent Talking Dead TWD Universe Preview Special, Fear the Walking Dead’s Colby Minifie hinted that Virginia shouldn’t be labeled as a villain, a sentiment supported by showrunner Andrew Chambliss.
Fans met Virginia, also known as Ginny, during season 5 when she rode into town with her followers and made it clear that it was her way or the highway. The perception, of course, is that she was the new big bad for the show, and her reputation as someone who disposes of people who don’t serve a purpose seems to fit that bill. However, the “villain” label might be shortsighted.
Minifie said that she doesn’t “see Virginia as a villain,” due in large part to her character’s description during casting. She was told specifically that Virginia was not considered a villain and that only opens up speculation as to her true intentions.
Chambliss agreed on that front, noting that “Virginia collected communities and propped them up” and that the multitude of her little world allows our characters to explore new environments under her rule.
It’s also important to note that in Virginia’s mind, there is only her way or Morgan’s way. She feels threatened by Morgan Jones and is working hard to eliminate him from the equation for some unknown reason, and that will factor into the season 6 story. Virginia is the one who holds all of the power so her concern about Morgan is interesting. Whether it’s intimidation or something else, Virginia’s issues with Morgan will be fun to explore in the new season.
