The Walking Dead episode 1016: An epic adventure with quick resolves

This was a great episode for fans of the starring cast of The Walking Dead. Each of the major characters seemed to play an important role in defending the building from the Whisperers and it all came together rather nicely.

To add to the appeal, the return of Maggie with a new, highly skilled companion was quite pleasant, and using them to save Father Gabriel, a character who many thought to be in huge danger in this episode, should have put a smile on viewers’ faces.

Even fans of Negan got interesting teases with him telling Lydia that it isn’t too late to run away and look out for their own well being. Neither character did this, as Lydia entered the horde to help Carol and Negan went to look for Beta.

This episode was directed by Greg Nicotero, who used some interesting visual tactics to create beautiful shots by moving through the undead horde and capturing the walkers falling off the cliff with Alpha’s mask among the corpses.

Episode 1016 flew by. Swapping between the groups of survivors happened at a natural flow and came together to tell the story in a logical, interesting way.

Oh, and it was so nice to see Virgil find Connie. Hopefully, that will lead to something since she is quite beloved among the show’s fan base.
