Watching characters bond is always a good time. That is especially true when it is a young, conflicted individual struggling to survive in the wilderness. While those relationships are beautiful, they often ended poorly.
Negan showed some compassion for Milo, who was trapped with his mother Amelia as walkers surrounded them. After being saved by the former leader of the Saviors, Milo and Negan bonded over a toy plane while Amelia shared their struggles on the road.
Wanting to bring them back to Alexandria, Negan saw some potential in those survivors. Sadly, his traveling companion Brandon did not. He saw them as a challenge and an opportunity to impress Negan and encourage him to return to his old ways.
In his efforts to impress Negan, Brandon killed both Amelia and Milo in a brutal fashion by smashing their heads in with a tire iron. When Negan returned with wood for their fire, he discovered their corpses and went into a blind rage over Brandon’s actions.
