4. The flashbacks to monument day
It might be worth making monument day into a full-length movie, or possibly expanding on it in the new anthology spin-off series. The flashbacks to this day are otherworldly. In Fear The Walking Dead fans got to see a small glimpse of chaos within the city as the society collapsed, but it didn’t seem to hold a candle to monument day. Fires, looting, and death seem to be a common and sad theme between them both.
Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 was a 16 part web series that is part of Fear the Walking Dead storyline and it deals with a plane crash. It shows what happens when someone dies on board and wraps up with Nick watching the plane crash. It seems monument day is a mixture of both of these things from Fear the Walking Dead.
Hope and Iris got separated on this day and it has shaped them into who they are as people now. They were only very young children when this all happened and they had to watch the dead walk amongst the living, watch the sky fall around them, and lose their mother. Viewers learn Elton loses his mom this day as well but it is not known where he is during it.
This day is one the goriest and hectic events to ever happen in The Walking Dead universe, so hopefully, this is touched upon again. The flashbacks that every main character could show are the epitome of WTF and fans would love to see more details of what happened around the globe when the world ended.
