The Walking Dead world remembers Scott Wilson
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead world seems a little less bright since Scott Wilson left us.
It was two years ago that Scott Wilson left this world. He played the Green Family’s patriarch in seasons two, three and four of The Walking Dead. Hershel Greene taught us many great lessons along the way:
- You step outside, you risk your life.
- Christ promised a resurrection of the dead, I just assumed he had something different in mind.
- I hereby declare we have spaghetti Tuesdays every Wednesday.
- Life is always a test.
- No man is good enough for your little girl…until one is.
- I can shoot. I just don’t like to.
Words to live by from Hershel himself.
Scott Wilson did an outstanding job as Hershel Greene. He made us all love him and want him to be a part of our own family. He was present at the cons and met his fans with open arms and a smile.
Fans took to social media to remember Wilson and shared memories of Hershel, memories of meeting Wilson at a con, or just special wishes remembering him today.
The Walking Dead Twitter page posted some great Hershel moments and also posted some photos of Wilson in his younger years.
Wilson started acting in the late 60s and never stopped. His first role was a murder suspect in In the Heat of the Night that starred Sidney Pointer and Rod Steiger. He played a key role in the 1974 adaptation of The Great Gatsby. His character killed Jay Gatsby (Robert Redford) at the Gatsby Mansion swimming pool and then turned the gun on himself.
Over the years, he starred in many TV series, including The X-Files, Law and Order and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. And in 2011, he landed the role of Hershel on The Walking Dead.
Fans miss his character very much as he was always a leveled headed voice of reason in the series.
It is good that we look back each year and remember the great man that was Scott Wilson (1942-2018)
