The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon gets revenge for Carol

Daryl Dixon takes his revenge out on Beta for Carol and her loss of Henry

The season ten finale of The Walking Dead aired this past Sunday, and it is good to finally get some closure to that season. The range of emotions experienced during this episode was incredible. We lost Beatrice, Father Gabriel was willing to die for the family, Connie is alive, Maggie is back, Lydia saves Carol, and Daryl Dixon kills the Whisper’s giant, Beta.

This was such a satisfying moment in the finale. Beta was bad news. He was set out to avenge his loss of Alpha, and with all of those pent up emotions he was feeling from this loss, there would have nothing that could stand in his way. Except for Daryl Dixon.

Yes, Negan gets his share of credit for heading right for the big one. Especially after he told Daryl he wouldn’t be going out knowing the Whisperers were itching to put his head on a pike or worse since he killed Alpha.

But, in the end, it was Daryl who took down the giant.

Daryl had to feel some satisfaction knowing that he not only got revenge for the first fight he had with Beta but that he was the one to take down the leader of the group that has been tormenting his family for so long.

Another thing Daryl has to feel with the death of Beta comes some closure for Carol. Beta and his crew were responsible for Carol’s son Henry’s death.

The connection that Daryl and Carol have will always be a close relationship; they get each other.  Daryl knows Carol well enough to know that she has been running away from her emotions, where Henry is concerned. Losing your son in such a brutal way had to be heart-wrenching for Carol. And this is a woman who had to shoot one of the children she considered a child.

Daryl doesn’t even know about Carol almost walking off a cliff to save everyone. All Daryl knows is that Carol is precious to him, and he is willing to do whatever it takes to protect her.

It will be exciting to see what season eleven brings for these two. We all know there will be a Daryl and Carol spin-off, but we have no clue what will lead them up to the start of that series.
