NYCC: Norman Reedus has Andrew Lincoln’s beard in his freezer

The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus has a collection of hair from his co-stars

Some people collect stamps, other people collect trading cards. When it comes to The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus, he has a collection of hair from his fellow TWD cast members. The secret came out in the chat section during the TWD virtual panel at New York Comic Con.

It turns out that the comments section was more engaging than the actual panel, which was pre recorded. Several members of the panel joined in the comments section to interact with fans including Norman Reedus, Paola Lazaro, Angela Kang and Scott M. Gimple.

At one point, Gimple revealed a stunning factoid about Norman Reedus: “Andy Lincoln is a speedy beard grower. Fun Fact: Norman has some of Rick’s beard in his freezer. Or, er, he did.”

Soon thereafter, Reedus confirmed the news in the chat section: “Yes I still have Andy’s beard in a bag,” he wrote in the fast moving comments section. “Scott Wilson’s ponytail, too.”

Um, what?

Since the comments section was not tied to the panel, there wasn’t much of an opportunity to dwell on these random revelations but they certainly gave fans pause. Why on earth does Norman Reedus have Andrew Lincoln’s beard hair and Scott Wilson’s ponytail? And why are they in his freezer? Are they in bags, or in Tupperware? Are they labeled? Does he ever take them out?

So many questions and not enough answers at this point.

There’s no question that Reedus and Lincoln enjoy a brother-like friendship that goes far beyond the show. It would be nice to see Daryl and Rick back together again, but even if that doesn’t happen it’s enough to know that the two men will always be close.

Close enough to share beard hair, evidently.
