Michael E. Satrazemis and Lennie James break down Fear TWD season 6 premiere

It’s not every day you get to have two legends of The Walking Dead Universe stop by the Undead Walking Podcast, but we had Fear TWD executive producer and uber-director Michael E. Satrazemis and star Lennie James stop by the podcast  – on James’ birthday, no less – to talk about the epic Fear TWD season 6 premiere “The End is the Beginning”.

Now that the season 6 premiere has aired it’s no secret that the entire episode centered on Morgan’s journey in the aftermath of the season 5 finale that saw him shot in the chest by Virginia. He’s so far gone that the walkers are ignoring him until he calls attention to himself. He’s limping, his eyes are red and his wound is so infected it stinks.

Virginia sends bounty hunter Emile to figure out whether Morgan is dead or alive, and Morgan also meets a stranger named Isaac who ends up needing Morgan more than Morgan needs him.

By the end of the episode Morgan has undergone a complete transformation from when we first meet him in the TWD series premiere so long ago, and when he appeared in “Clear.” No, this is a brand new person. “Morgan Jones is dead,” he tells Virginia.

We were very happy to welcome “The End is the Beginning” director Michael E. Satrazemis and Lennie James on the podcast to talk about the episode. They have been with The Walking Dead from the very start and it’s fitting for Satrazemis to direct and episode that is so integral to Morgan’s rebirth.

James talks about Morgan’s physical transformation, how Emile plays a role in his mindset and what it all means for the rest of season 6.
