The Walking Dead: Norman Reedus shares a picture back at work
Work is underway on The Walking Dead set as Norman Reedus shares a photo from set
Daryl Dixon is back in action as filming begins on The Walking Dead set. Star Norman Reedus shared a photo of himself in character during filming, which means that the bonus episodes are that much closer to becoming a reality in 2021.
It has been a long time since cameras have rolled on The Walking Dead set but things are slowly getting back to normal in Senoia as filming resumes on the show. Reedus shared a photo from set with the caption “happy to be back at it” with a red heart emoji.
Fans might recall seeing how trimmed Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s hair and beard were for the New York Comic Con panel, suggesting that he’s either on his way back to work or already in Georgia and ready to become Negan once again.
(Note: this photo may or may not be from filming happening now, but the caption is what’s important)
In order to film safely, shows are creating quarantine bubbles to keep the people involved in filming safe. That means regular COVID-19 testing, contract tracing and limiting the number of people on set at any given time, which will be a challenge for a show that features lots of extras who appear as walkers.
Based on comments from showrunner Angela Kang in recent NYCC panel discussions, work will begin with the season 10 bonus episodes, which will allow the production team to work out the issues with filming under the new rules so that they are ready to go when it’s time to film season 11. The bonus episodes have been described as being more character driven, so that means fewer people involved in shooting each episode.
There’s no timeline on when to expect the six bonus episodes, but “early 2021” and “Spring 2021” have been mentioned so it won’t be too long of a wait until we see them.
