3 WTF moments from The Walking Dead: World Beyond episode 102

3. The beehive empty
While viewers did in fact see the beehive empty in a teaser, what was not shown is the absolute chaos of what unfolded after, and the bigger picture of what is happening with this group of teenagers. The beehive empty alone was visually stunning, and horrifying. Especially to those with allergies, however, it seems these teenagers are not deathly allergic to bees, so that is a plus.
This empty is a symbol and means far more than just being a cool rotter. When faced with direct danger when encountering it, Elton and Silas could not make the kill. Instead, the entire group ran away. In combination with the earlier empty, this makes two encounters where this group hasn’t been able to make a kill.
After running away, the group decides to hold up in a treehouse which is a very great idea. This keeps them up high enough to be safe from empties. Yet during the time they spend in the treehouse, they roll around a heavy bowling ball and make tons of noise. As if the beehive empty didn’t serve enough WTF, these kids don’t seem to take into account other humans could be listening as well.
All the noise brings the beehive walker back in their direction, and like before they can’t make the kill. Eventually, Hope leads the empty away. So heading into episode 3, and this group still hasn’t killed the undead yet. While it’s understandable they are scared, these two empties would have been the perfect practice. It makes going forward in the story feel very nerve-wracking.
