The Walking Dead 1016 answers every fan’s burning question
By Joe LaBrosse
Leading up to The Walking Dead’s season 10 finale, fans wanted to know: WHERE IS DOG?
Rick Grimes. Carol Peletier. Michonne. Daryl Dixon. All legendary characters in The Walking Dead universe, yet none are universally beloved by all. One of the few characters who can hold such a title is, in fact, not even a person.
Of course, we are talking about Dog. Daryl’s aptly named companion since season 9 instantly became a favorite across the fandom, no matter which “ship” you support or which character you “stan.” In the TWDFamily, everyone loves Dog.
Whether it’s his adorable bond with Daryl, Connie, and Judith or his surprisingly effective combat abilities against the Whisperers, Dog has filled the Shiva-sized hole in many fans’ hearts.
So, in the season 10 finale, when we saw the survivors trapped in the abandoned hospital by Whisperers and walkers alike, it seemed like Dog would be done for. Sure, the survivors can cover themselves in walker guts and sneak through the horde, but what do they do about Dog?
Luckily, the survivors were able to keep Dog out of harm’s way, thanks to Lydia’s ability to guide the horde away from the hospital. Had the rest of the group needed to make a similarly stealthy exit, Dog probably wouldn’t have made it.
While the show didn’t make much of a fuss about his survival, Dog can be seen in the background when Maggie and Judith reunite in one of the episode’s most touching moments. The adorable pup will always be a background character with a cool or heartwarming moment every once in a while, but as long as he survives everything is alright.
Some fans were upset about the lack of major deaths in the season 10 finale, but one character’s survival that none will complain about is Dog’s. There’s still a long, long way to go until the end of The Walking Dead, but here’s hoping that Dog makes it all the way.
Are you happy to see that Dog made it out alive (and if not, why are you a monster)? Let us know by leaving a comment!
