Jeffrey Dean Morgan has finished filming for a new horror movie called Shrine
The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan is starring in a new horror movie called Shrine. This film is an adaptation of the 1983 novel by horror author James Herbert. Even though filming has been completed, there is no release date for the movie as of this article’s writing.
Morgan will play a disgraced journalist who moves to New England to try and resurrect his career. He stumbles upon some mysterious miracles and discovers there is darkness behind the miracles. A young girl, Alice (Cricket Brown), who is deaf and mute, is the first to experience one of the miracles after walking to an oak tree that is located on the local church property. After community members find out about the miracle, and word starts to spread, the town becomes a place of interest for many others.
The film also stars Katie Aselton, William Sadler, Diogo Morgado and Cary Elwes.
Morgan announced that the filming had wrapped after a long journey to get there. Filming for the movie had to be shut down earlier in the year, but luckily, about a month ago they were finally able to finish the shooting of this movie.
The screenplay is written by Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast and The Huntsman: Winter’s War), who also serves as director. Sam Rami, the Evil Dead franchise creator, is the producer of this film, which is good news for horror fans as Rami knows horror. Rami is joined by fellow Ghost House Productions founder Robert Tapert.
Part of the filming was done in Clinton, MA, and Telegram.com shared some great behind the scenes photos of Morgan during filming in March.
Morgan has kept busy by not only starring as the villain turned hero, Negan, in The Walking Dead series but many other projects as well. Be sure to check him out in Walkaway Joe, Postcard Killings and Rampage.
He recently posted a photo of himself with his daughter at home. He is obviously taking a break between wrapping up Shrine filming before he heads back to Georgia to film season eleven of The Walking Dead.
