When confronted by walking dead, you can’t be burdened by crises of identity.

This week’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead had itself a very clear message: “Don’t forget who you are.” This was driven home continually throughout the episode, particularly through Strand and Daniel, one who was struggling with being the man he believed he should be, and the other struggling to remember who he was…until he wasn’t.

But, with everything else we saw in that episode, I saw a larger picture, specifically, that who we are, and how we see ourselves, can become a huge aspect of how well or even if we survive a zombie apocalypse. If a good or tough person loses who they are, there’s a good chance they won’t survive; Conversely, if a bad or wimpy person finds themselves a new identity, it can give them a new lease on life.

So, this week, we’re going to tackle just how issues of who and what we are can either help build us up, or, let the undead tear us down.
