Fear The Walking Dead, Survival Rule Of The Week: Identity Crises

4) Sometimes, You Need Someone To Remind You Who You Are
Something we learned in this week’s episode was that, part of the agreement Strand made with Virginia at the end of last season was that, in exchange for the starter to Al’s SWAT truck, Strand insisted on staying with Alicia.
The reason? Because Strand felt he needed Alicia to help him remember who he was, and the man he wanted to be.
Sometimes in a zombie apocalypse, that’s what we need: A friend or a loved one who we can look to to remind us of the person we’re supposed to be. Not some warped version of ourselves that the apocalypse turns us into, but, the person we’re meant to be.
When the apocalypse tries to distort your moral compass, look to that person to help you remember the direction your compass should be pointing in.
Even if that person is no longer with you, remember what they would have said to you, how they have guided you, and the principles they believed in.
When the apocalypse causes us to lose our way, sometimes, we need someone else to serve as our lighthouse, our beacon to point us in the right direction.
