Fear TWD 602: Now is Alicia’s time to shine

Alicia Clark is about to step into her own in a big way in Fear TWD season 6

It’s hard to remember that Alicia Clark was a high school student when the zombie apocalypse began on Fear the Walking Dead. She has certainly come a long way after losing her family and gaining a new one. Now, in Fear TWD season 6, she’s about to start making her own decisions to protect herself and the people she cares about.

At the end of Fear TWD 602, Victor Strand sent Alicia away because he knew that in order to make tough decisions to help get them out of Virginia’s control, he needed to do things that Alicia might not agree with. She doesn’t know this, which makes it harder because she thinks he sent her away.

As far as Alicia knows, she is on her own and she’s with Charlie, and together they will need to find a way to survive together.

Alicia has always been strong, but she’s going to have to be stronger than ever because now she’s truly on her own. Even when things were at their worst in season 3, she had Jake (kind of) and her family with her. Now, she’s the one protecting Charlie from danger and it puts her in a whole new role of protector.

Alycia Debnam-Carey hinted at this transformation before the season started during an interview on the Fear TWD set back in February:

"I say this every season, it’s like Alicia is coming into her own, Alicia growing into who she’s supposed to be but it’s really hard when you start a show as a teenager and you are going through the biggest transition into an adult, and this is the first season where it really feels like there is no question about her role in this. She’s one of the adults and she’s there as a real contender to be leading and what she wants to be doing has gravity and weight to it. It does feel different in that there’s weight to it, there’s more gravity than before. There are a lot of different views amongst the characters of how people should be living and her view of what living looks like definitely has weight behind it. So that’s different, her perspective, her opinions are really honing in and I think that’s really great."

We know that Madison’s legacy has been living on in Alicia since the Clark family matriarch died in season 4. Alicia’s decisions thus far have represented her mother’s quest to help other people and that will likely carry over now as she takes responsibility for protecting Charlie. (Though let’s face it – Charlie can take care of herself just fine)

With Strand gone, this is Alicia’s moment to become the leader she was always meant to be.

It took this journey of loss and recovery to become the fierce leader she was destined to become to honor her mother. And now, in season 6, it’s time to see her unleash that potential and show Virginia who she’s messing with, and it’s going to be so much fun to see!
