14. Separated inside the prison walls

Back-to-back Hershel moments? You got it! The prison wasn’t a great time for Hershel at all but, even before his demise, he was doing everything he could to look after his family and new friends, even if it put himself in danger.

In the season 3 premiere, the survivors were attempting to settle into the prison. Done trying to find a place to call home, the group wants to clear their prison while drama hit an all-time high when it came to Rick and Lori.

The cell blocks needed to be cleared one by one, but the group got separated when walkers separated the two groups, keeping Hershel from his daughter Maggie. Going back for her, a walker grabbed him by his leg and took a big bite out of it.

This scene sounds pretty standard, but it was the way it was filmed that added some amazing tension. The lighting, sound of walkers approaching, and passion of a father looking for his daughter made this scene very intense.
