7. Jesus gets a surprise in the graveyard

Dealing with the undead can be a real challenge, especially when they have a large group and the survivors are trapped somewhere. That was the case in season 9 when the group was trapped in a graveyard when trying to get a wounded Eugene to safety.

A fight ensued in a gloomy, dark graveyard with several survivors taking out numerous walkers. At the forefront of the fight, Paul “Jesus” Monroe was slaying the undead left and right to protect his friends as they worked to open the gate.

The fight seemed to be going well for Jesus until a “walker” ducked one of his attacks and stabbed him in the side. The group was shocked to see his happen and realized that some of their attackers were humans and adjusted their way of fighting.

This was horrifying because Jesus was a beloved character among the fan base and the shock of seeing the “walker” act in a way that hadn’t been done before was quite jarring. It made the survivors and viewers question everything they knew about the undead…at least for a moment.
