Chris Hardwick will host first-ever The Walking Dead Holiday Special on AMC

Before 2020, The Walking Dead fans received an early holiday gift in the form of the mid-season finale, but these are strange times we’re living in and there is no TWD airing at the moment. However, AMC+ is bringing members of the TWD cast to a holiday get-together, The Walking Dead Holiday Special, featuring fan-favorite cast members.

The Walking Dead Holiday Special will air on the AMC+ streaming bundle on Sunday, December 13, and the event will be hosted by Chris Hardwick. As of this writing the cast members included in the special have not been announced, nor is it clear whether or not members of Fear the Walking Dead or TWD: World Beyond will be part of the event, but we hope they are.

If it can be said that there is a pleasant side effect of the pandemic it has been the way Zoom has allowed people to come together, and Zoom reunions and cast specials have been a very integral part of keeping fans together and engaged through difficult times. In fact, AMC brought two new shows to life during the pandemic, Friday Night In with the Morgans and Bottomless Brunch with Colman Domingo, using the technology.

The Walking Dead Holiday Special will be part of AMC’s larger “Best Christmas Ever” lineup of over 800 hours of holiday programming throughout the season. They’ll host family favorites like The Polar Express and Jack Frost, along with cult classics like National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Love Actually (starring our very own baby-faced Andrew Lincoln)

While the current plan is to air The Walking Dead Holiday Special on AMC+ exclusively, we’re hoping that the show finds its way to AMC TV or AMC.com for fans who aren’t able to access AMC+.
