Connecting The Walking Dead: ‘Madman Across The Water’
By Liam O'Leary
Someone got some Fear The Walking Dead in my World Beyond…and it was GREAT.
Welcome back to the latest installment of Connecting The Walking Dead!
For those who don’t know, in this series, I analyze each new episode of The Walking Dead World Beyond, and find all the connections between it and its sister shows, The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead. Some of these connections can be subtle and small, others…not so much. Either way, I love finding them and calling attention to them, just in case you may not have seen them.
Let me say this about this week’s episode of World Beyond: It was MEATY.
By that, I mean that this episode was full of references to The Walking Dead universe’s grisly past, particularly the period where Fear began. Essentially, this episode was like a micro-episode of Fear, showing us what happened to Elton (And Lincoln, Nebraska, at-large) while the events of the first season of Fear were taking place.
…And I loved it.
We got to see Elton’s vivid memory’s of the day the outbreak hit, what happened at Missouri’s portion of the Mississippi River when the apocalypse hit, the history of Campus Colony’s creation, and how what we saw in Los Angeles in Fear was things going terribly wrong.
Frankly, I don’t want to waste any more time, so, let’s get started!
