4) What Can You Live With?

If you really want one, I can give a perfectly pragmatic reason for doing the right thing in a zombie apocalypse. Do you wanna know what it is?

You may not be able to live with the alternative.

I want you to seriously ask yourself: What can I live with?

Oh, there will be people, even people you might not expect, who, once the apocalypse sets in, will become vicious, ruthless killers, and be able to murder countless people without batting an eyelash. But, there will also be people, again, even people you might not expect, who will not. There will be people who will be unable to handle the despicable things they’ve done to others (Especially those who posed no threat to them), and will chose to commit suicide over the horrors their crimes haunt them with.

You don’t want to be like that.

Yes, having principles will be expensive, but, not having them may prove an even steeper price, because, pillaging, plundering, raping, and murdering people will catch up with those who do them, one way or another. For some, their behavior will be turned back on them by someone else, but others, will slowly be haunted by what they’ve done, eating away at their psyche until they decide they only way to quiet the ghosts is to become one themselves.

So, I ask you to ask yourself once again: What can I live with?

Having the ability to live with the person you are…is priceless.
