Fear The Walking Dead, The Key: Things To Note
By Liam O'Leary
16) After Janis’s execution, Ginny holds a big ceremony for John, proclaiming him a hero, much like how he was after fatally shooting a robber during his days as a cop before the outbreak (Which he recounted to June in season four’s “Laura”).
17) This episode gets its name both from the key Ginny awards John for investigating Cameron’s death, and the key Morgan got from Walter (By way of Emile) that The Beginners were searching for.
18) After giving John his key, Ginny says to him “Accept this token of our gratitude, a key to the future”. This is the same phrase on the book Georgie gave Maggie back in The Walking Dead’s season eight episode, which also happened to be named “The Key”. …Interesting.
19) Morgan’s run-in with Smoky Guy and his friend (The first two Beginners we met at the end of the first episode of the season), where the two attempt to jump him, believing they’ll take him easily (And fail) is very reminiscent of Morgan’s encounter with the leader of the Wolves, Owen, and his buddy from The Walking Dead season five finale, “Conquer”. Although, in that instance, Owen and his cohort survived, whereas here, Smoky Guy and his friend do not.
20) Speaking of which, Smoky Guy and his friend are the third and second people Morgan has killed this season, respectively.
And, with that, we’ve concluded our Things To Note for this week. Was there anything you missed? Was there anything I missed? Feel free to throw in your things to note in the comments!
