2) The CRM Fuel Depot

A central part of this week’s episode of World Beyond was Percy and Tony’s truck (Pictured above), which Percy explains is loaded with refined fuel, something that The Walking Dead and especially Fear The Walking Dead have shown to be a rare and precious commodity.

This makes the fact that the pair have, apparently, been stealing it from a Civic Republic Military fuel depot somewhere in the Missouri/Illinois area all the more intriguing.

Firstly, the fact they’ve been able to do this for, apparently, at least a year (If Percy’s story about how he got the truck was accurate) is something in and of itself, as one would imagine the CRM would take stock of the fuel they had, and would be mildly irritated to find large amounts of it missing.

Secondly, it confirms just how wide ranging the Civic Republic’s reach is, making Illinois the third state with a confirmed Civic Republic outpost, alongside Texas and New York. This means the particular outpost Percy and Tony have been stealing from is likely a waypoint for CRM soldiers and emissaries to use either for traveling south or to its allies further west (Assuming they haven’t destroyed them the way they did Campus Colony).

And, finally, its presence raises another question: With Illinois being much closer to Texas (The only place we’ve seen in The Walking Dead universe with the natural resources available to make gasoline) than any other known Civic Republic outpost, it makes you wonder if at some point between where Fear is now and the present of World Beyond, did the CRM lay claim to the oilfield presently under the Pioneers’ control in Fear? It would certainly explain how ten years from the outbreak, they still have the fuel necessary to keep trucks and helicopters running and provide themselves with enough electricity that Lieutenant Kublek can be frivolous with it.
